Seven Stars Newshound Reporters
Tim: "Yesterday we hosted our own festival called Come On Down. This year it was at the Isabella Community Centre in Blyth."
Andy: "We had groups from different places like Berwick Northstar Centre who did line dancing and also Gillian did a tap dance. And also Twisting Ducks had two videos about what they can do. Barndale and Dilston College and also the SpLinter Group came down. Bedlington Day Centre did a puppet show 'the Rose of Bedlington' in the afternoon. We watched a video about last year when we made a hat. We sang I Had A Dream, When I Say Nothing At All and then Ain't No Sugar Left Blues."
Tim: "We wrote Ain't No Sugar Left Blues ourselves."
Ann: "I like meeting people lots. Dinner was very good. Lots to eat. I enjoyed people working with us. I liked the singing and talking."
Gavin: "I enjoyed the videos by Twisting Ducks, especially the cars in the videos!"
Darren: "I enjoyed playing Kroll in our shadow puppet story, and Bedlington's shadow puppet story was good too."
Alan: "Gavin had the Sea Lord and he was good at it. I liked other people's work."
Mark: "I enjoyed playing Killian who was the hero. I enjoyed watching videos and the hat video."
Paula and Anthony's list of materials you will need to create your own shadow puppet play:
card, sticks, tape, scissors, dream music, lights, black pens, a white sheet, light and a 'mint' story.

Come On Down - Seven Stars Newshound Reports
Watch out for our Seven Stars Newshound Reports coming soon after a fantastic first day (of three) today of our 8th Come On Down International Festival of Creativity for Learning Disabled People. Brilliant work on show today: Sword & Sorcery Storytelling in self-penned 'Killians Quest' from our very own Seven Stars, who also compared the bill. Local ghost story 'The Rose of Bedlington' with beautiful sound beam music from Shadow Stories. An fine informative film from Twisting Ducks. Then Northstar 'bringing us sunshine' from Berwick topped off with some Hill Billy Rock. Splinter Group & The Stars rounded up the day with a good ole live ukelele sing-along. Did we have a good time? Darn tootin we did! Tomorrow is our Schools Day...
We had a beautiful creative day today and it's not over yet!
Do let us know if you'd like to Come on Down too...
